On December 20, 2013 major ice storm swiped Town of Aurora under thick blanket of ice. Town the Aurora Senior’s Centre as a warming station for those without the heat. By the following Sunday over 3,000 Aurora residents lost their power. Many trees felled down across Town of Aurora due to heavy and thick accumulation of ice on the tree branches.
