On January 15, 2015, Target announced that it will be closing down 133 Target Canada stores across Canada after only operating for about 2 years. The stores were not profitable. This will affect the Town of Aurora Target store located on Bayview Avenue. Possibly about 100 people will loose Target retail jobs.

On January 1, 2015 Town of Aurora updated its waste management by-law that affects all residents and businesses in Aurora who participate in the curbside collection. Electronic Waste (e-waste) and batteries are banned from curbside collection and there is a maximum of five extra bulky items per scheduled collection. That is you can put out a maximum of 5 extra bulky items along with green bin(s), recyclable blue box(es) and garbage bag(s)/can(s)/bin(s).
